AUGUST 15-17 - will be co-hosted by Dolores & Ed Neel and Linda & Ron Klimes on August 15 thru 17th. This will be an anchor out affair on the Bohemia River. The festivities will held be on the lawn in front of Ed Neel’s house. Ed lives in the community of Hack’s Point, which is on the south shore of the Bohemia River, about half way between R”2” and the Rt. 213 bridge. The anchorage area is along the north side. This is a favorite spot for many weekenders. The shoreline is tree lined and the bottom is soft mud, with good holding in 5’ to 8’ of water.

There is no transient dockage available along the south side of the Bohemia River, but there may be a few slips at Bohemia Bay Marina on the north side. However, it’s a long dink ride. When entering the Bohemia River, the deepest water is along the south side near Ford Landing. From there, you generally head toward R”2” about 2 miles distant, while giving some leeway to Battery point. The first mile is the most shallow. The channel gets deeper farther in. The Hack’s Point community dock is essentially in front of Ed’s house, and will serve as the dingy dock, LAT 39-28-01.33North/LON 075-52-52.61W. This is across the river from the anchorage.

FRIDAY, August 15, 1700 hrs. gathering of the clan, with an impromptu-pitch in cocktail hour on the lawn.

SATURDAY, August 16, 0900 Breakfast on the deck of Neel’s house. During the day, anyone wishing to go into Chesapeake City—transportation will be provided—contact the hosts: Ed and Dolores Neel 410-275-8741 or Ron and Linda Klimes 717-578-2271.

Around 1700 Saturday we plan to have a Crab feast for all those who want them. Ed knows a local crabber, so they will be fresh caught-local crabs. The cost of this is unknown as it will depend on cost of the crabs. We would, however, like to have reservations in advance, so we know how much to order. For those not eating crabs, we will provide hot dogs or hamburgers or meat balls with the usual fixins.

SUNDAY, August 17, 0900 Breakfast on the deck of Neel’s house.

Departure of the fleet.

OPEN INVITATION
All MTOA members are invited to participate in the Chesapeake Bay Cruisers Calendar of Events, regardless as to where they normally cruise. Who are the Chesapeake Bay Cruisers? All MTOA members who are listed in the MTOA 2007 Annual Roster , as either living or boating in the Chesapeake Bay, from the Potomac River north to the C&D Canal , have been included in an e-mail data base as Chesapeake Bay Cruisers. In addition, many MTOA er's who may live outside of this area, but who have cruised the Bay, or may have passed thru the Bay either on a Loop cruise, or as snow birds, and may have participated at a CBC Rendezvous in the past, are also included in the data base.

Cindy and Al Gellene have volunteered to be the facilitators for the CBC group for 2008. If you are interested in being included in the CBC e-mail database, please contact them at agellene@friend.ly.net, and you will receive monthly updates, and reminders of up-coming events.

There are only two rules within the CBC group. The first rule is, if you plan to attend an event, please contact the host/co-hosts and advise them of your intent, and the number of guests that will be with you. The second rule is, that you comply if the host/co-hosts request you bring side dishes, or contribute to the cost to the rendezvous . Typically, a contribution of $5.00 per person is requested of all attendees, if the hosts/co-hosts provides an entrée, and continental breakfasts, to minimize their out of pocket expenses.

That's all there is. We are MTOA members, who enjoy cruising the Bay, and enjoy being with other MTOA members. Come join us.
